Today we would like to share how Winoa’s WALUE team with its extensive first-hand knowledge on abrasives, blasting equipment and blasting process, have delivered a customized training service at Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Middle East (CBEME).
Winoa’s office in Dubai was requested by CBEME to conduct a training session on air-blasting process and optimization for CBEME’s production and quality personnel.
CBEME is a pioneering specialist in design, manufacture and installation of structural steel-work & metal fabrication, and has completed several renowned projects in the Middle East such as the Zayed University, Dubai Airport Expansion-Concourse 4, Emirates Tower and the Dubai Olympic Sports Complex.
21 professionals including blasters, foremen, quality inspectors, engineers, and department managers attended the training.
The first part focused on a theoretical presentation explaining how to use steel abrasives and how to improve productivity and surface finish quality. The training was interactive with extensive discussions on operational challenges in air blasting and methods to overcome them.
The second part of the session focused on practical exercises such as how to monitor and adjust nozzle pressure, measuring wear of nozzle and when to change it, identification of cleanliness grades, etc.
The training was specifically aimed at helping CBEME’s team improve the blasting process by achieving better surface finish quality, improved productivity and blasting efficiency to reduce their Total Cost of Blasting operations through Winoa’s unique 7 step approach.
The 7 step approach is supported by Winoa’s WACOST Tool, a cost estimation and optimization software developed by the group through years of experience in blasting. The WACOST software is available in several tiers and combines real time information given by the customer with global standards in blasting to estimate the actual cost of blasting. However, what makes the tool unique is its ability to evaluate the cost impact of proposed changes in abrasive media and/or operational procedures.
As a result, since launching WACOST in 2001, Winoa has assisted several of its customers globally to identify areas of improvements and thereby reduced their Total Cost of Blasting.
In 2017, WACOST-Silver, a mobile version of the software was made available as an iOS application on Winoa’s Sales & WALUE team’s phones, allowing them to support customers even in the middle of a blasting room or on top of a blasting machine!!!
The training service, like Winoa’s other services is a Value added service available for all its customers through its WALUE team.
