Review of the ATF Technical Day on Shotblasting, an Immersive Experience with Winoa
At the end of 2024, Winoa opened the doors of its French factory to welcome professionals from across France and Belgium for the ATF technical day, an event entirely dedicated to innovation in shotblasting. Organized in partnership with the Association Technique de Fonderie (ATF) and the Technical Center for Mechanical Industries (CETIM), this exceptional day brought together experts, foundry workers, and industry professionals for enriching discussions, technical demonstrations, and practical workshops.
We are delighted to present this video that highlights the key moments of this unique event: interactive learning sessions in the morning, an immersive tour of one of the world’s largest shot factories, and hands-on workshops providing an opportunity to experience the innovative technologies developed by Winoa.
Discover this day rich in insights and share our passion for innovation and collaboration in the shotblasting industry.
Training to deepen knowledge in shotblasting
The morning began with a series of interactive sessions led by experts from Winoa and CETIM. Participants explored various topics, including:
- Shotblasting challenges in foundries, such as desanding and surface finishing.
- Current developments and new needs of foundry operators.
- A detailed presentation on different types of abrasives, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages.
- Surface finishing issues, illustrated by the example of TA6V shotblasting.
- A practical case on the influence of shotblasting on magnetic particle inspection and the surface of parts.
- Process optimization and predictive maintenance to anticipate and prevent breakdowns.
These sessions allowed participants to deepen their knowledge and discuss the current and future challenges of the shotblasting industry.
Visit to the Shotblasting Plant
After an enjoyable lunch, participants had the opportunity to explore behind the scenes at Winoa France through a guided tour of its Cheylas factory. Recognized as one of the largest shotblasting plants in the world, this site is a model of innovation and industrial performance.
This immersive tour allowed visitors to:
- Understand the manufacturing processes of steel abrasives.
- Learn about the quality standards and innovations implemented to meet industry needs.
- Engage directly with the on-site teams to deepen their technical knowledge.
A memorable experience for many, this visit highlighted Winoa’s unique expertise and commitment to excellence.
Practical workshops to test Winoa technologies
The afternoon continued at the Technical Center with a series of interactive workshops and practical demonstrations, offering participants a hands-on experience with the innovative technologies developed by Winoa.
Participants had the opportunity to:
- Discover technological tools like WA Clean, an advanced solution to enhance shotblasting performance.
- Immerse themselves in a demonstration with an augmented reality headset to better understand processes in real-world conditions.
- Test and engage with the educational game Blasting Cost Killer from W Care, designed to optimize shot usage costs.
- Explore TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) calculations for strategic long-term cost management.
These workshops allowed participants to directly experience the solutions proposed by Winoa and assess their potential for their needs within their own industrial environments.
A day dedicated to innovation and sharing
This day, organized by ATF, CETIM, and Winoa, was a significant success, bringing together industry professionals to share knowledge, experiences, and innovative solutions. Through training, a factory visit, and practical workshops, each participant left with concrete ideas and tools applicable to their own industrial needs.
It also strengthened Winoa’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the field of shotblasting. We warmly thank all participants for their interest and involvement, as well as our partners, ATF and CETIM, for their invaluable collaboration.
